A second half comeback saw us comeback from two goals down to beat Championship side Queen of the South in our only public friendly match in the close season.

The match of course ended up being Gary Locke’s last game in charge and he gave run outs to new signings Josh Morris, Jack Whitaker and Joe McGovern.

Rutherford had the first chance of the afternoon against his old side but sent his long range shot wide of target in the opening minute.

Two minutes later Queen’s took the lead when Dobbie set up Andy STIRLING to blast the ball home from close range.

With ten minutes gone Muirhead saw his shot blocked by keeper Martin and then midway through the first half Morris laid the ball of to Whitaker who rolled the ball wide from 14 yards.

Just short of the half hour Muirhead sent the ball over after being set up by Buchanan and then a low header by Dykes was held by McGurn.

However two minutes from the break the visitors doubled their advantage when Rankin released the ball to Stephen DOBBIE to slot home from a few yards out.

The visitors then changed their frontline for the second half with former Scotland cap James McFadden appearing as a trialist along with former Central Parker Derek Lyle.

With 58 minutes gone we pulled a goal back when Morris sent the ball over to Cameron MUIRHEAD to slot home from seven yards.

Eleven minutes later MUIRHEAD got his second goal of the afternoon when he burst through to send a low shot into the bottom corner of the net from 13 yards.

A memorable comeback was then completed with five minutes to go when the unmarked David SYME rose to head home at the back post from a Mullen corner.
