Cowdenbeath FC 3  Clyde 1

Date: 23rd March 2010 Kick off: 7:45pm
Competition: Irn-Bru 2nd Division Referee: Steven Nicholls
Venue: Central Park Attendance: 303
Man of the Match:

Two goals from top scorer Paul McQuade saw us extend our unbeaten run to seven games as we consolidated our second top place.

There were three changes to the side which had drawn a blank against Dumbarton. Gareth Wardlaw was suspended and was replaced by John Dempster while Brian Fairbairn and Craig Winter made way for Mark Ramsay and Jon Robertson.

The Bully Wee, looking for their first win since early December, got off to the perfect start opening the scoring in the first minute.

A high ball from Lithgow was nodded down by Stewart to Jordan WHITE who turned his marker before firing a low shot into the bottom corner of the Cowden net.

Ramsay fired over a cross to Droudge who fired high over from 12 yards, soon after the young defender hobbled off the park with an injury and was replaced by Baxter.

We upped the pressure in search of an equaliser with McQuade and McGregor coming close.

On the half hour Sawyers came close for the visitors with his header going inches wide.

Two minutes later however we were back on level terms. Clyde’s McLachlan thinking a Cowden player was offside caught the ball however referee Nicholls awarded us a free kick.

The ball was fired into the visitor’s box by Stein with a clearance from White falling to Paul McQUADE who shot home from eight yards.

With 64 minutes gone we took the lead when Ramsay found McQuade who beat the offside trap before sending a low cross across the face of the Clyde goal for Jon ROBERTSON to tap home.

Seven minutes later McQUADE wrapped up the win when he headed home from a Baxter cross from six yards.
