Calum Elliot’s side completed their pre-season friendlies with a win over the Swifts at Dalgety Bay Sports Centre on Saturday afternoon.

An early goal from Aiden McLaughlin, his second of the build-up, secured the win over Jason Dair’s side but given their dominance through-out the 90 minutes the victory should have been by a bigger margin.

Eliot took the opportunity to run the rule over three new trialists, one a familiar face at centre half who featured in the opening 45 minutes, replacing another trialist Jacob Comerford who joined East Fife after impressing against the Methil side in midweek.

The only goal of the afternoon came after just nine minutes when Zac Butterworth sent over a low cross from the right to McLaughlin who fired home.

Josh Jack then fired over the bar from 20 yards and midway through the first half Jamie Docherty came close with two long range efforts.

McLaughlin and Docherty then again came close to add to the scoring and as half time approached the Swifts keeper pulled off a fine double save to deny Jack and Docherty.

Elliot made six changes to his line up for the second half and one of the replacements Matty McDonald had two good chances to add to the scoring soon after coming on.

With 54 minutes gone the home keeper done well to keep an angled shot from Scott Walker out palming the ball clear at his back post.

Then with 17 minutes to go the custodian was again called into action when he blocked a long- range effort from Jack at the expense of a corner.

Ewan MacPherson then saw a shot bounce off the top of the bar and soon after saw a shot roll just wide of the far post.

Kevin Smith then had the ball in the back of the home net but the assistant referee had his flag raised for offside.

The Swifts had a few late chances to grab an equaliser but the Trialist sub keeper pulled off a few good saves to ensure a clean sheet.

The trialist sub keeper who came on in the second half Josh Blair was later signed from Broxburn Athletic.
